David Bailey
1. David Bailey is a London photographer born 2nd January 1938, he died at the age of 84 with 3 children. He was most active during the 1959 period , this is when he expanded on his work on the transformed British fashion and celebrity photography from chic stylisation that's reserved to further help develop his work his photographs to make them youthful and direct with the celebrities portraits. David Bailey used the Pentax camera and the Olympus camera for he stated it to be an all in one camera.
2.
Robert Capa
I have chosen to use this photograph to show David Bailey's work because it shows how he used people to show the different styles of fashion that was occurring at the time, he used different genders to show the fashion for them at the time. This image is a portraited image that has been taken so the person is slightly off center to make the image more interesting.
This photograph is being used to show how the female fashion was different to the male fashion, this model was use to show how the typical female was and what was expected for them to look like. David Bailey edits all his photographs to be in black and white, this is make the images timeless and can be seen in anytime time frame and people thinking they are from the present time. This image has been taken so the compositions are all off centered images making there be more space for the clothing items and the person.
This photograph signifies the idea that the clothing people wear can connote the idea that people are the same due to the clothing they wear, however they are different because of the type of people they are. This image also has a slight off centered image so the image is more interesting and isn't perfectly symmetrical.
3. These pieces of work that David Bailey does are taken in a studio, these photos are always staged and posed for this is because it projects a different view to the clothing and the models involved. David Bailey involves celebrities and royals in his photographs for example he has taken photos of the queen of England Elizabeth, he has done this to help connote the idea of how people being shown different due to the clothing and the poses they do. This artist takes portrait photos that express the idea of fashion being different for certain people.
4. David Bailey has a specific taste of photographs he has taken, he has a uniform photograph style and does not change the style or settings of his photographs. The only change in some of his work is in the editing sectors for when there is colour used in a spare few of his photographs.
1. Robert Capa was a 40 year old war documentary photographer from Budapest, he was born 22nd October 1922 and further died in 1954. His work was based off conflict and imbued with narrative and pathos of the events happening at the certain time. The equipment that Robert Capa used was the 35MM Leica camera, he used this camera because it was small enough the hold in one hand and it was a light weighted camera.
2.
I have decided to include this image to show the work that Robert Capa has created because in this photograph it shows the different ideas of what was falling from the sky at the time. This image signifies the different ideas of what fell from the sky and how chaotic everything was, unlike how the worse thing that fell from the sky before was rain how in this photograph people are coming down from the sky with potential weapons. This image has a composition from a low angle to gather all the scenery that makes the photograph.
This photograph is being used in this report to show how Robert Capa used his photography to show the distress and pain that the people was going through during the war and how even the children was understanding and upset from the events occurring. This photograph documents the events through the effects of what is happening and how the people outside the war where being effected and depressed the events made them and the effects happening around then through where they are now living. This photograph is also a low angled image to help gather the expression of the child and to show how dull the area is.
This photograph was taken to show the effects that the war had and the damage that was made to the locations that the war occurred on. This photograph shows how the physical surroundings where damaged and the war was taken from the war field to the streets of the people. This photograph is taken as a golden ratio photo for the children are sat on the left of the image to show the scenario they are in and why they are acting the way they are.
3. Robert Capa is a photographer that does not stage his photographs for he is a war photographer that documents the events that are happening at the current moment, in my opinion this type of photography is powerful towards the audience and creates a feeling towards the audience to become emotional.
4. Robert Capa's photography work has a uniform and house style to his work, he is consistent to the work he does and consistently changes the colour palette to white and black.
Steve McCurry
1. Steve McCurry was a American photographer aged 72 that specialised in documentary photography, he took tight headshot photographs and he consistently used bright vivid colours to draw the viewers attention to the colours contained in the photographs and how they change throw the events that are happening at the moment.
2.This photograph is a staged photograph for the girl is staring directly into the lens of the camera to create meaning and dimension to the photograph. The colours have been enhanced in this photograph to show the emotion in her eyes in he situations and why the photograph has further be taken. This photograph is taken so the girls face is centered but her body is off center, this adds to the idea of her emotions and makes the colour of her eyes pop more.
This photograph shows the distress and the conditions that babies are being brought up in and the effect that the events are having on the children and how they aren't being missed out on in the tragedy. This photograph is also a staged photograph for the background is plain and looks as if the baby is being lauded onto a fluffy blanket. This photograph is taken so the baby is not centered and is more on the left of the photograph because it adds more to the image and makes it more interesting and adds to the storyline of the image.
The reasoning behind this photograph is to show how there is happiness from people that are surrounded by nature and fierce animals. This photograph almost looks as if it is painted from the power each line contains in the scene, from the man having his arm up it initiates the idea of how he has let the bird is being set free. This photograph is another golden ratio photograph for the eagle is flying in front of the man towards the right of the screen.
3. These photographs are taken on location meaning they are not taken in a form of studio, this style of photography is based in the documentary sector of photography, the photographs have powerful meanings behind them for they show the events and pain that the citizens have been going through and showing how its not only the elder people that have been effected through the events occurring. I believe that these photographs are highly powerful and create meaning to the smallest of things being the man and the bird being civil, this shows how people and nature can get along without the violence and weapons.
4. Steve McCurry has similarities in his work due to the colours that are used in the photographs and how he enhances them in all his photographs to create meaning and emotion to the photographs.
5. In my opinion I believe that Robert Capa to be the most powerful and meaningful photographer within the 3 I have analysed, this is because to me the war photographs have created a deep meaning of sorrow and pain to the audience. The black and white theme that is contained in the editing of the photographs create more meaning and and depth to the detail of the photographs, this technique also creates a timeline of the images making them have an older themes to the to set the date of the photographs.
